I offer these writing services to help make your communications as easy to read as possible: basic editing, proofreading, copyediting, and substantive editing.

As you can see from the general price list below, there are differences in technique, and hence, differences in prices for what I do.

A basic line edit can help the writer improve the writing and avoid such problems as redundant information, cliches, overused words or sentences, run-on sentences and confusing shifts in tone.

A copyedit, on the other hand, is much more intense and detailed. Copyediting comes after a line edit and focuses on grammar, punctuation, spelling, and repetitious words or paragraphs in order to fine-tune your manuscript. After you've made any changes in your draft, the copyeditor goes over it word by word, sentence by sentence, to make sure your prose is the best it can be and says exactly what you mean.

An excellent source for understanding the differences is this article. (reprinted with permission)
